The assortment combines comforting dessert flavours, Nordic berries and herbs, and more adventurous notes such as Italian liquorice, three Mexican chillies and coconut with fresh ginger. The bonbons are coated in a mixture of dark and milk chocolate made from cocoa beans processed in the company’s own Österlen factory. Svenska Kakao was founded in 2013 by Ulrika and Fredrik Bergenkrans. The company began after they purchased an old village school dating from 1893 in Skåne-Tranås and converted it into a chocolate factory. Svenska Kakao describes itself as one of the early Swedish pioneers of artisan bean-to-bar chocolate.
