Pachira wodna (Latin: Pachira) is prized for its palmate, glossy, leathery leaves and braided stems. Young seedlings are trained so that they intertwine and fuse into one. In indoor cultivation the plant takes on a shape somewhat similar to a bottle tree. At the tops of the stems it forms a rosette of leaves. It usually reaches 1.5–2 m in height. In the wild it is a swamp tree found in South and Central America. However, origin does not entirely determine how it should be cared for.
